Bronze 60 Plan: Coverage for Unexpected High Medical Costs
Bronze Plan Highlights:
The standard Bronze Plan covers your first three cumulative office visits (primary care, specialist, mental health, and urgent care visits) for a copay of $65-$95. Note: The HSA Bronze Plan does not include this benefit.
All Bronze plans include free preventative care such as annual physicals (including mammograms and colonoscopies), well-baby checkups, and immunizations.
- Basic pediatric vision and dental preventative services are free for children 18 and under.
2 Types of Bronze Plans
Covered California has 2 types of Bronze 60 Plans: the regular Bronze 60 Plan and a Bronze Plan that works with a Health Savings Account called the Bronze 60 HDHP/HSA Plan.

Save you money on taxes by offsetting income, reducing taxable income, or even allowing you to save for the future.
Should I Choose the Bronze 60 Plan?
This plan might be a good choice for you if:
- You want a low monthly premium.
- You don’t mind having a high deductible, and you’re mainly interested in a plan that covers severe medical conditions.
- You don’t usually need expensive prescription drugs.
- You’re in good health and don’t often use healthcare services.
- You want to fulfill the health insurance requirement rather than having the most comprehensive benefits.
- Your income qualifies you for a subsidy, but you don’t qualify for an Enhanced Silver Plan.
- You’re over 50, and your income doesn’t qualify you for a subsidy. Note: At this age, the cost difference between the Bronze and Silver plans is often over $100.
Consider These Factors When Choosing Your Health Insurance Plan
- Check out the Minimum Coverage Plan if you’re under 30 and don’t qualify for a tax credit.
- If you qualify for an Enhanced Silver Plan, compare it to the Bronze plan to see if the added out-of-pocket savings make up for the higher premium.
- If you use a lot of prescriptions, doctor visits, or other medical services, consider a Silver, Gold, or Platinum plan.
